What does our name mean? The artisans that make our beautiful products are from Bogotá, Colombia. The name Bogotá originates from the indigenous Bacatá. Bacatá was the name of the capital of the confederation of Zipa and the ancient civilization Muisca; it means “fencing outside the village” or “territory fencing of the border”.

“Bacatá Traditions” is an American company established to promote fair business and trade with the beautiful country of Colombia. It provides our customers in the USA with a unique opportunity to support the artisans of Colombia. We are proud to offer their beautiful jars, urns, and other pottery; purses, and jewelry for the pleasure and enjoyment of our customers. Our goal is to share a little of Colombia’s rich culture and history with our customers with each original piece which has been hand-made by Colombian artisans. Because these pieces represent traditional Colombian craftsmanship, we call ourselves “Bacatá Traditions”.
